James Hunter - is the Director and Principal Occupational Therapist of Driving Rehab Pty Ltd.  The company was started in 2015.  James’ working life started as a tradesman spanning over 12 years in both residential and commercial construction.  James has always been interested in health, medical and mentoring people to achieve a rewarding life and to seek the many opportunities available.  James Studied Occupational Therapy in the late 90’s and soon travelled overseas to practice.  James has practised in the UK, Isle Of Man, New Zealand and Australia. James focused four years of his career in the field of pharmaceutical chronic pain management.  He then worked in Orthopaedic Surgery, where he was a surgical support for surgeons during hip and knee replacement surgery.  James has many years’ experience working as an Occupational Therapist in hospitals, clinics and community services, both in the public and private system.  He has worked with many people over the years with various conditions and functional limitations. James prides himself on thinking laterally to help client’s overcome barriers at home. He understands the rapid need for health services to be home based and delivered in a timely manner.  This underpins and drives James’ practice.  James is passionate about utilising many approaches to improve his clients quality of life while striving to maximise independence.  


When not working, you may find James in the water surfing down the Surf Coast west of Melbourne, Kite-Surfing, Paddle Boarding, at the gym or training in Martial Arts (Taekwondo).

  • Home Modifications - (Co. Director has 12 + years previous experience as a tradesman in the construction industry)

  • Ergonomic Computer Workstation Assessments
  • Wheelchair & Seating – Including  postural assessments
  • Pressure Care – Cushions, mattresses & air alternation therapy
  • Mobility – Functional assessment of walking aids, education & advice
  • Falls Prevention and Home Visits
  • Scooters - Assessment, training and advice
  • Manual Handling – Chair, bed, bath, shower & all transfers
  • Hoist & Slings - Prescription and education
  • Carer Training
  • Rehabilitation In The Home – Maximising independence and & safety in the home
